Actor John Quade died this past week. He passed away quietly in his sleep at the age of 71. Most people could not tell you who John Quade was if you mentioned him, but once you saw his face, you’d quickly remember, “Oh, that guy”. That’s because Quade never was a true star. He was normally cast as the “heavy guy” in some of the old Clint Eastwood flicks. He’s probably most recognized from his roles in “Every Which Way But Loose” and “Any Which Way You Can”. He played Chola, the leader of a bumbling motorcycle gang. Quade didn’t have a star’s face, but he made a great living filling a niche- playing the “heavy guy”.
It also helped that he was a talented actor. He honed his skills to fill small roles. These small roles however added up over a career. There is a lesson to take from this actor’s career. Most people will never achieve celebrity status, but that type of success is rare. Just Look at all those heart broken youngsters who don’t make it to the top on American Idol. They might think that all is hopeless, but information technology today gives anyone the opportunity to still be successful at filling a niche if you work hard enough.
True success is finding your calling, and working at it to be the best you can.
Find a niche demand and fill it- and success will come.

Wow, great points, Jonathan! Thanks for those words of inspiration!
I for one, recognize Mr. Quade from his name. Once I had seen his face, and his acting abilities, he was to me, an unforgettable man. His leaving us, won’t get the attention of a big movie star but those who have seen his work and talents, will always remember him.
