While traveling this week, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to Chris Anderson’s new book Free: The Future of Radical Price. His assertion that it pays to offer free has never rang more true today. Free can be a powerful tool to sell your products, services and ideas to others.
Case and point- after I finish posting this blog, I’m going to jump over to LogMeIn.com and log into the free version I use for accessing my main desktop remotely. Compare that to $19.95/mo for GotoMyPC.com. Of course you can upgrade to a paid version of LogMeIn that has a few more features, but I don’t need to right now. If I do however decide to step up to the premium package, I’ll gladly do business with them since they’ve served me so well with the free stuff.
I’m a true believer in giving away tons of free content in order to build long term trust. The key is long term. You have to be patient in this process.
Chris sticks true to his message. You can get a free copy of the audio version of his book at audible.
